FIBA Asia – Emirates let Hong Kong off the hook; Jordan, Taipei win
TEHRAN (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Men): United Arab Emirates came very close to notching their first win in the championship, but let Hong Kong off the hook in a Group IV Quarterfinal round game on Monday.
Hong Kong, who looked withered against the Emirates rally, scraped through to win 72-70.
Malaysia, meanwhile, were yet looking for their first win, after losing to Jordan also in Group IV. Jordan won 84-72.
Malaysia play UAE on Tuesday, with the losers ending with the wooden spoon in the championship.
In Group III, Chinese Taipei slowly, but steadily, wore India down before notching a 95-86 win and finish on top of the Group.
Hong Kong and Jordan square off on Tuesday, with the winners taking on Chinese Taipei in the play-off for the ninth place.

Group IV
Hong Kong 72 (Lau Hoi To 20, Lau Tsz Lai 11) bt UAE 70 (Salah Khalifa Abdalla 27, Omar Khalid Faqqas 13). Quarterwise Scores: 22-12, 26-37, 47-50.
Jordan 84 (Louay Obeidi 35, Odai Abuqamar 20) bt Malaysia 72 (Kwaan Yoong Jing 27, Ong Chun Khee 16). Quarterwise Scores: 18-22, 40-36, 65-56.
